On Tuesday Governor Bruce Rauner appointed Chicago Attorney and University of Illinois alumnus Sanford ‘Sandy’ Perl to the U of I Board of Trustees—a position that has been vacant since January 2017.

Governor Bruce Rauner announced this morning that he has appointed Stuart King to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. King has received three degrees from the University of Illinois, and is a practicing physician at Christie Clinic in Champaign.

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has vetoed a bill backed by the University of Illinois that would have allowed a nonresident student to serve as a student trustee. This means three criteria will remain in place - living in Illinois for least six months, proof of residency, and being a registered voter in Illinois. The measure that failed would have only required one of the three.

The U of I Trustees Executive Committee will formally accept Chancellor Phyllis Wise's resignation, and name an interim chancellor to replace her.  The search for a permanent replacement is expected to take six to nine months.

The professor whose job offer was rescinded over comments made on Twitter seeks to be re-instated to the position, along with unspecified monetary damages.
