Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Juano Mena guest conducts the group in works inspired by “Nature”: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the “Pastoral”, Smetana’s “The Moldau”, Villa-Lobos’ “Amazonas” and Takemitsu’s “riverrun”.
Tonight at 7:00 on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM 90.9 it’s the next “Beethovenfest in Bonn” program from Deutsche Welle Radio. Violinist Patricia Kopachinskaja is featured in Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto” with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra led by Jonathan Nott. She’s also featured in a Divertimento by Mozart, Enescu’s “Third Violin Sonata” and a Rumanian Folk Dance or two by Bartok.
This week on the Evening Concert on WILL-FM, it’s the next “Beethovenfest in Bonn” program, then Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Wednesday it’s a “Debate Simulcast” from IL Public Media and “Fiesta!”; Thursday it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week” and Sunday, Chamber Music from Lincoln Center and from Spoleto.

Brey also performs Bach’s First Suite for Unaccompanied Cello. Also on the program Music Director Alan Gilbert leads the Philharmonic in Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony.
Tonight at 7:00 on "The Evening Concert" on WILL, FM-90.9 Helene Grimaud is the soloist in Beethoven’s “Emperor” Piano Concerto with the Cleveland Orchestra. Fabio Luisi guest conducts. Also on the program: Mahler’s Fourth Symphony featuring soprano Maureen McKay in the final movement of the work.

At 8:00 it’s a shortened “Evening Concert” with “Saudados do Brasil” on Fiesta! Borodin Quartet plays Beethoven’s and Shostakovich’s String Quartet Number 12 on the Evening Concert

The Borodin Quartet is featured in string quartets by Beethoven and Shostakovich. The program centers on a back-to-back performance of the String Quartets Number 12, first Beethoven’s, then Shostakovich’s with commentary comparing and contrasting the two works.
