The career of the British conductor Sir Thomas Beecham was the stuff of a legend. Born rich, he bought symphony orchestras and opera companies. In the 1930s and 1940s, he was among the most successful classical recording artists. Whatever he did, either in private life, or on the podium, seemed to beg for headlines. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear some of his remarkable recordings from his extensive discography.
