Last month, it emerged that Illinois State University Athletics spent more than $23,000 on a one-day donor trip involving Aaron Rossi, the then-CEO of Reditus Labs. This happened back in 2021, and it was an attempt to secure a $3 million donation from Rossi. But just weeks after making that pledge, Rossi was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with three counts of tax fraud. It’s not clear if ISU ever received any of the promised money.

A journalist who has been following the story joined The 21st to talk about what they uncovered, and what’s happened since then.
