Victim Identified In Hoopeston Motel Shooting

The Vermilion County Coroner’s office has identified the victim of Sunday night’s fatal shooting at a Hoopeston motel.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon on 40-year old Bruce Eldridge of Hoopeston.

Hoopeston Police officers say shots were fired at the Downtown Motel at 200 E. Main Street just past 9 p.m. Sunday, and Eldridge’s body was found in one of the rooms.

Officers say suspects fled the hotel on foot, and then in a vehicle.

The homicide remains under investigation by Hoopeston Police, the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department, and the Vermilion County Coroner.
