University of Illinois Considers Firing Professor

University of Illinois trustees are expected later this month to consider the rare step of stripping a professor of tenure and firing him.

University President Bob Easter has recommended that associate engineering professor Louis Wozniak loose his tenure.

According to the News-Gazette in Champaign, administrators claim the longtime professor revealed one student's grade, videotaped students without consent and told students in an email to remind him of their names because he only remembers those he has sex with.

Wozniak later apologized for a joke he said was in bad taste. He says he'd like to teach again.

He started at the university in 1966 but has been barred from teaching since 2010.

The last tenure case heard by trustees is believed to have been in the 1960s.
