Panel Probing Quinn Program Will Meet Next Week

A panel investigating Gov. Pat Quinn's troubled anti-violence program says the group will still meet next week to decide next steps after federal authorities asked them to hold off while they conduct an investigation.

The Legislative Audit Commission oversees state audits and must approve a scathing review of Quinn's program.

Federal officials and the Cook County state's attorney are also looking into the 2010 program.

Commission members said the audit left unanswered questions and subpoenaed former Quinn aides to testify next week.

On Wednesday committee members said the U.S. Department of Justice requested they temporarily suspend action for 90 days.

State Sen. Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) is a co-chair. He said Thursday that the group will meet to determine how to proceed. Democratic members say they want to suspend action.
