Foosland Woman Dies In House Fire

The Champaign County Sheriff’s office says an elderly Foosland woman has died in a Monday evening house fire.

Sheriff’s Lieutenant Curt Apperson said Shirley Stewart, 77, was found dead in the home early Tuesday morning, and an autopsy is scheduled Wednesday.  No one was else was in the home.

A few rural fire departments were called to the scene of the fire just past 10 p.m. Monday.  The single-story home was destroyed.

The Sheriff’s department is working with the Illinois State Fire Marshall to determine the cause of the fire.
