EIU Trustees Vote To Hold Tuition Steady

Trustees at Eastern Illinois University have voted not to raise tuition or room-and-board rates for the 2014-15 school year.

Trustees who met on Friday agreed to hold rates at current-year levels. That means the typical full-time, in-state student starting next fall will pay $4,245 a semester for tuition. Room rates will hold at between $4,150 and $4,679 depending on meal plans.

Dan Nadler is vice president for student affairs at EIU. He said in a news release that this will be the first time since the 1992-93 school year that tuition hasn't been raised.

Under Illinois state law students attending public universities pay the same tuition rates for four full years.
