Danville Federal Bankruptcy Court Heads To Urbana

A federal bankruptcy court in far-eastern Illinois is relocating from Danville to Urbana.

Officials say the bankruptcy court for the Central District of Illinois will move about 30 miles due west next May.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette says the relocation will save about $100,000 a year in lease costs. Meanwhile, officials say moving from the Danville federal building to the Urbana federal courthouse will also make the bankruptcy court easier to reach.

The General Services Administration says the Danville federal building will still be home to local branches for the Social Security Administration as well as an office for Congressman John Shimkus.
