Champaign, Urbana, Enact Sidewalk Snow Removal

 

Public Works Departments in the cities of Champaign and Urbana have enacted their sidewalk snow removal ordinances.

Champaign’s measure went into effect at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and applies to the Downtown and Campustown areas, meaning those sidewalks must be cleared within 48 hours. 

Those not in compliance will be cleared by the city at the owner’s expense.

Urbana’s ordinance applies to the Downtown, University and South Philo Road districts, and goes into effect at 12 p.m. The ordinance requires that public sidewalks be cleared within 24 hours.
