Bill Daley Exploring Run For Illinois Governor

Former White House chief of Staff William Daley says he's forming a committee to explore running for Illinois governor in 2014.

The Chicago Democrat made the announcement in a video posted online Tuesday morning. In it, he says Illinois "can't wait for politicians in Springfield to clean up the mess they created."

The committee allows Daley to begin raising money for a challenge to Gov. Pat Quinn, a fellow Democrat.

Daley is the son and brother of 2 former Chicago mayors. It would be the first run for public office for the banker and lawyer who also served as chief of staff for President Barack Obama.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is also considering challenging Quinn in a Democratic primary.
