Coroner:  Bethany Resident Was Shot in the Head

 

Illinois State Police say one is dead after a double shooting in Moultrie County Thursday morning.

State Police and Moultrie County Sheriff's Deputies say a man in the village of Bethany called 9-1-1, indicating he'd been shot. 

Two people with gunshot wounds were discovered at the scene.  Both were transferred to area hospitals.

The Associated Press reports the two were married.

The Macon County Coroner says Denise Robertson, 51, of rural Bethany later died, while Michael Robertson, 66, was airlifted to Carle Hospital, where Thursday night he was undergoing treatment.

No other information regarding the shooter has been released. 

UPDATE:  Following an autopsy conducted Friday morning, the McLean County Coroner said Denise Robertson died of a gunshot wound to the head.
