Judge Sentences Peoria Man To 200 Years In Killing

A judge has sentenced a 23-year-old Peoria man to 200 years in prison in the fatal shooting of an East Peoria man during a drug deal.

The Pekin Daily Times reports that James Johnson showed no emotion when Tazewell County Circuit Judge Kevin Galley sentenced him Thursday.

In May, a jury found Johnson guilty of killing 21-year-old Justin Siebenthal in June 2012 when Siebenthal tried to stop an armed robbery at his home. Another man, Andrew Leathers, was wounded in the gunfire.

Twenty-one-year-old Carlton Neely of Peoria pleaded guilty in the case and testified against Johnson. Last month, Neely was sentenced to 40 years.

Johnson's sentence included three 25-year additional required by state law from crimes causing death or serious harm involving firearms.
