Champaign Attorney Entering 103rd House Race

Another candidate has joined a crowded field for Illinois’ 103rd House District.  Democrat and Champaign Attorney Sam Rosenberg is the third in the party to seek the seat currently held by the retiring Urbana Democrat Naomi Jakobsson.

Rosenberg, 28, is a native of Glen Ellyn, has a law degree from the University of Illinois, and has helped with a number of campaigns.  He’s worked for the Champaign County State’s Attorney as well as the Chicago Mayor’s office.

Rosenberg said higher education is tops among his concerns:

“Hundreds of millions of dollars are constantly being pledged to the University of Illinois," he said.  "And they’re either not coming up with that funding, or it’s coming up short.  For our flagship university, for the tuition to continually be rising, for projects to be continually be going unfunded, that’s inexcusable.”

Rosenberg says he strong ties to the U of I, noting his grandfather was an architect on the undergraduate library.

Others seeking the Illinois House seat are Champaign County Board member Michael Richards, Urbana City Council member Carol Ammons, both Democrats, as well as Champaign County Republican Vice Chair Kristin Williamson.
