Body Discovered in Urbana’s Crystal Lake

 

Urbana Police say a male body has been recovered from Crystal Lake. Officers were called to the area just past noon on Monday.

Lieutenant Bryant Seraphin said the dive team from the Cornbelt Fire Protection District of Mahomet was called to retrieve the body, which was removed about 2 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers observed a human body floating face down in the water," Seraphin said in a statement. "Urbana Fire Rescue Services personnel, along with EMTs, also responded. Signs of life were not observed; it was determined the subject was deceased."

Urbana Police and the Champaign County Coroner’s office are investigating the man’s identity and cause of death.
