Body Discovered in Monticello

 

An autopsy is scheduled on a male body discovered in Monticello Thursday morning.

The name is not yet being released, but Police Chief Michael Galloway says the man is a 53-year old white Monticello resident, and there were no initial signs of foul play.  

He says the body was discovered by a resident at 7:30 a.m at the corner of Marion and State Streets, at the location of an old Piatt County ESDA building.  Galloway says the body was found seated on the steps against the door.

Agencies at the scene included the Piatt County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police Crime Lab.

UPDATE:  Monticello Police report that an autopsy indicates that a 53 year old man found dead on a Monticello city street died of natural causes.  The man has been identified as Daniel P. Dighton of Monticello.
