Trumpeter Phil Smith and Composer Aaron Jay Kernis with UI Wind Symphony

Aaron Jay Kernis is one of the most esteemed composers living today and one of the youngest ever awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Philip Smith is principal tumpeter of the New York Philharmonic. Mr. Kernis's new trumpet concerto was written for Mr. Smith and will have its world premiere with the University of Illinois Wind Symphony Tuesday. Both gentlemen will join me on the Monday edition of "Live and Local."
